When the descaling cartridge becomes less efficient a flashing pilot light indicates the time to change the cartridge. If the cartridge is not changed the EMC system will stop the pump and therefore the production of steam. As soon as the cartridge is changed, or demineralised water is used, the pump operates again and the steam generator produces steam.
